Mouse Cat Toys

We all make associations between various things in the world. We think of flowers with spring, snow with winter, bones with dogs, and mice with cats. So it is no surprise that mouse cat toys are one of the most popular kinds of cat toy. Many people probably have an image in their head of a barn cat patrolling a farmyard, looking for rodent invaders. Even highly domesticated, pet cats will often catch a mouse when given the opportunity.

So manufacturers make many cat toys in the shape of a mouse, appealing to both the owners sense of aesthetics and the cats instincts. Cat enjoy having a mouse toy to bat around the house, providing hours of entertainment. They can push the mouse with their paws, chase after it, pounce on it. Mouse cat toys come in different sizes, from ones as small as a teaspoon to life sized ones. They might be white or gray, or come in bright colors. Catnip mice are also popular; catnip acts as a stimulant on cats, giving them more energy. Providing toys like mice is important, as it keeps your cat active and healthy. Mouse toys also trigger cats hunting instincts, making them more likely to play with the toy. Another association we have with cats is independence; we think because they are more autonomous than dogs, they can be left largely to themselves. Outdoor cats may not need much in the way of toys, but housecats do since they are inside all day, and mouse toys are perfect for them.
