Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of pet toys are available?
A: There are some basic kinds of pet toys. Chew toys are designed for gnawing, by teething young animals or adults. Some will have textured surfaces to help keep teeth clean. Fetch and exercise toys are designed to be used actively, by having the pet run and retrieve something or chase and try to catch a toy on a rope. Stuffed toys can be used in any number of ways.

Q: Are there different sizes of pet toys?
A: Yes, pet toys come in a wide range of sizes. There are very small ones for small breeds of dogs, puppies and kittens. Very large toys are also available for large-breed dogs, and of course sizes in between.

Q: Where can you buy pet toys?
A: The best place to find toys is probably a pet store, which will have a large selection of different kinds and sizes of toys. Online retailers will also have a large selection, while grocery and drug stores may carry a few items.

Q: What kind of toy should I get my pet?
A: What you buy will depend on your pet. If they seem hyper or like they are not active enough, choose a Chuckit or chaser toy. If they need something to do while you are at work, a busy or chew toy might be best. Many pet stores allow you to bring your animals in; take your dog to the pet store and let him choose a toy. That way you can be sure he will like it.

Q: How long will pet toys last?
A: That will depend on the material it is made of and how much your pet plays with it. There are highly durable toys made of nylon and strong rope toys, which will last for quite awhile. Stuffed toys may not last a week if your pet is determined to destroy it and has lots of time to work on it.
