Cat Toys
People usually think of cats as being very self sufficient, able to stay at home alone for long hours and amuse themselves. While it is true that they can take care of themselves, cats should still be given cat toys so they have something to do. These can be as simple as a felt mouse, perhaps with a little catnip inside, or as fancy as a cat tree with spring toys and a scratching post. There are a range of different cat toys, made of different materials, in different shapes and sizes, so that everyone can find the perfect toy for their pet. There are many types of small toys that are designed to be batted around, chased after, and pounced on.
These toys appeal to cats hunting instincts, prompting them to swat at the toy with their paws, throwing it around their play area. They can then run after it, bat it around some more, or pounce on it and chew it. These are often shaped like mice, although balls are also common. Many also have catnip in them, an herb that is a stimulant for cats. Other types of cat toys are long, thin, flexible metal rods with a toy on one end; you can flick the toy back and forth for your pet to chase and try to grab. Cat trees are also popular, as they provide cats something to climb and a scratching post. Cats can climb to different levels, and many also enjoy sleeping on higher perches.
